Getting Bends Out Of Elastic Thread

Sandra J. Paluzzi

Clear nylon thread is great for many purposes and the only game in town for illusion necklaces.  It comes rolled on a spool.  Unfortunately, it maintains the shape of the spool when you unwind it.  In time, your necklace will loose the bends and drape properly.  But you can hurry this process along by 'ironing' it.  To iron nylon thread, find a lit electric light bulb which feels somewhat hot to the touch.  Take the coiled section of the thread, hold it taut in both hands and seesaw it back and forth over the light bulb.  The heat from the bulb will help to straighten the thread.
