Opening Jump Rings

Sandra Paluzzi
The Bead Peddler
®

There is a right and wrong way to open jump rings.  Dwyn Tomlinson has taken pictures to demonstrate.

First, we'll show  the correct way to open the rings.  Twist the ends away from each other in a sideways manner.  This method preserves the structural integrity of the jump ring.
Now we'll demonstrate the wrong way to open rings.  Pull the two ends away from each other.  This method weakens the jump ring.
Finally, here is a picture of the results of both efforts.  The correct way is pictures in the top.
