Getting the correct tautness when crimping

Sandra J Paluzzi
The Bead Peddler

How tight do you pull your wire before crimping? If it's too loose, the piece looks sloppy. On the other hand, if the wire's too tight, the piece doesn't lay gracefully. To get the correct tension, put a size 11 seed bead on the wire before you position your crimp bead. Pull the wire as tight as possible and finish the crimp. Then use your pliers to break the seed bead and remove it from your wire. You'll have the perfect amount of tautness in your wire.
