Necklace Tools and Supplies:
Beading Thread One carved heart pendant 18 – 8mm clear crackle beads 48 – 6mm red glass beads A few matching red seed beads One or two beading needles One clasp of your choice Scissors to cut the beading thread
If using a spring ring clasp be sure the jump ring end is solid or your thread will slip out.
NOTE: All these supplies were acquired at my local Wal-Mart store.
Step 1: Cut a piece of beading thread about 2 1/2 feet long and thread your needle with it. Pickup 6 seed beads then go through the hole at the top of the heart pendant then pick up 6 more seed beads. |
Step 2: Run your needle down through the first set of beads then through the heart and up through the last set of beads |
Step 3: Snug your thread as much as possible and make an overhand knot.
Not showing the tying of the knot because I’m sure everyone knows how to tie a simple overhand knot. |
Step 4:
Now string on one crackle bead, three red beads, one crackle bead and three red beads. |
Step 5: Repeat for the other side.
Continue this pattern until you have eight sets of red beads separated by crackle beads and ending with a crackle bead on each side of your pendant. |
Step 6: Add one side of your clasp and run your thread back through three beads. Make a noose knot twice. Use a drop of clear nail polish or glue to secure. |
Step 7: Once glue/nail polish has dried run the thread through three more beads. You can choose to secure another knot or simply clip the excess thread.
Here is your completed necklace.
Of course you can use any pendant you wish and any beads or combination of beads you wish.
As almost an afterthought I decided to make this pair of matching earrings. Directions follow.

For your earrings you will need:
Flush cutters Chain nose pliers Round nose pliers Pair of ear wires Pair of 2” head pins Two of the 8mm crackle beads Two of the 6mm red beads Pair of small hole bead caps The holes in the crackle beads are so large the head pins slip all the way through. You may wish to use small beads instead of the bead caps |
Step 1: String one bead cap, one crackle bead and one red bead onto a head pin
Step 2: Grab hold of the head pin just above the red bead and bend over. Do this just about in the middle of your pliers jaws for a nice size loop. |
Step 3: Bring the end of the headpin over, down and around its self as shown here |
Step 4: Hold your loop with your round nose pliers. Make sure the loop is well on the jaw and close the jaws (camera was faster than I was). Take your chain nose pliers and wrap the wire tail around the stem two to three times. |
Step 5: Clip the excess wire with your flush cutter… |
Step 6: Snug that end in using the chain nose pliers. You kind of have to do this in steps working around the wire. You don’t want that end to catch on anything.
Repeat steps 1 – 6, add your earwires by opening the loop on your earwires, inserting the dangles and reclosing the loop. Voila - you’re done. |

Here’s your lovely finished earrings. Pair them up with your new necklace and you’re all set for Valentines Celebrations or any other occasion. |
