Standing Out Sandra J. Paluzzi I'm sure you all know you have to find a way to make your jewelry stand out from the rest of the crafters. But are you aware that you can help sales by having a presentation that marks you as unique. This can be especially important at craft festivals. You see row after row after row of vendors with white or black tablecloths. A lot of those vendors sell jewelry. You want to stand out in order to (1) draw people into your booth and (2) help them to easily find your booth. Both of these issues can be addressed with your displays. You can draw people into your booth in several ways - a beautifully arranged display of jewelry at different eye levels will work. So will a show promotion. You could have a free drawing for a 25.00 gift certificate at the end of the show. People love to sign up for an opportunity to win something. You could also grab their attention with a sign saying - Want free jewelry - inquire within. Once these people enter, you could try to recruit them to have a home party. A friend brings a tray of inexpensive jewelry she picks up at garage sales for .25 a piece. If a Mom with a small daughter buys something, the tray gets dragged out for the daughter to select a free gift. Another friend brings another person to staff her booth. She allows people to design and make their own pair of earrings for 10.00. As you can see, there are many ways to get people into your booth. Making the sale is another thing, of course. Many times people see a piece they love and buy on impulse. However, many times they want to think about a piece or see the whole show before making their selection. Here, your goal is to enable those lookers to easily find you again. Friends have light pastel rose tablecloths hanging on their table. When someone says they want to think about an item, they can tell the potential customer to look for the pink tablecloths on their return. If you prefer white tablecloths, you can still manage to differentiate yourself. Take a wide ribbon in your company colors and drape it across the front of your tablecloth.
Craft fairs are not the only place where vendors have to
work to be noticed. The same tenet holds true for online websites.
There are several online jewelry galleries. Please take a minute
to visit our links & resources page. Notice how each of the
advertisements features a unique quality to attract a particular
customer base. The same holds true for flyers and print ads.
You know your product is different from others - let the public know it
also.
Is there an aspect of marketing that you'd like to see discussed?
