Kits Made For Adults
Sandy Paluzzi Swarovski has a new line of jewelry, including some in kit form. This jewelry is high end, glitzy and meant for adults. What is good for Swarovski may also be good for you. Kits for adults may translate to more sales for you in a couple of different ways.
First of all, you can sell them alongside your jewelry at
craft shows. Kits could do especially well at holiday time as
people are searching for last minute gifts and stocking stuffers.
If you live in a college town, you could market kits made with sorority
colors to all the Greek houses. And don't forget your local home town
sports team when designing kits. A kit made with team colors could
be a great fundraiser or school art project. When selling stand
alone kits, I would suggest a bracelet kit
In addition to selling the kits by themselves, you
could also schedule beading parties for teenagers and/or adults.
Everyone loves a ladies night out. Selling the kits at
jewelry parties gives you more flexibility in your kit design. You
can provide the tools and guide the novice jewelry makers as they make
up their kit. All the guests leave the house with a piece of
jewelry they made themselves. Be sure to bring extra kits to sell
to the departing guests. And it's not a bad idea to offer a small
selection of tools. At the very least, you should be able to tell
them where they can get tools locally.
Designing a kit is no harder than designing a piece of
jewelry to make. However, there are a few special
considerations. For example, you will need a steady supply of the
kit's components. Therefore, it makes sense to design around
beads that are readily available. You may also want to consider
that people come in different sizes. Your kit could contain enough
beads and wire to make a large bracelet or necklace. The final
consideration is the step by step illustrated instructions. I use
a digital camera to take photos for my kits, but anything that will
provide a close up digital pictures should work well.
Once you have your kit designed and developed, hand one
to a jewelry novice. Leave that person alone while they make up a
kit. Do any last minute tweaking and you're ready to go.
