Celebrate Moms with thoughtful designs

Sometimes when it's time to celebrate moms on Mother's day, many people can find a moment to drop by a store for candy or a few flowers, but it can be hard for them to express how important a mother's love can be. So for these Mother's day designs, try using a little extra creativity to show her how special she is. And if you can't find the right words, well, I've pulled a few from some famous minds to help you out!

For the youngest gift givers, you might consider homemade beads.

Choose a small picture they've drawn or a saying from a pretty card, cut it out, and glue it to some cardstock. Then use decoupage glue or other products to give it a stiff finish. After it dries, attach it to the jewelry mount of your choice and it is ready to start its life as a pin or as a necklace. The little ones will have fun helping with the glue and decoration, so don't forget to date the back of this homemade jewel.

For something different from the usual angels and hearts, give a free-spirited mom a butterfly, pendant.

Use sparkling Swarovski bicones in birthstone colors to represent her children's birth months for a colorful reminder of those who love her. Use two pendants with the birthstones and create a set of earrings. And who says they have to match exactly? A grandmother could have one group of bicones on one earring for her children and another group on the other earring for her grandchildren.

Of course moms deserve the best -- the interlocking platinum, diamond-set hearts delicately inscribed "Mother" in Chancery script. But since that is highly unlikely for most of us -- be creative with your beads.

These silver-plated stardust beads may not be platinum and diamond dust, but they certainly have a convincing sparkle. They make an elegant bracelet, and a shining Mother's day dangle is a simple and stylish way to remind Mom how you feel.

A sweet idea for a mother-to-be any time of the year is this pink and blue crystal baby charm bracelet. A white watch-style band is perfect for pink and blue charms, or you can go all pink or all blue, if you know the upcoming arrival's identity for sure.
