Square Beads

By Sandy Paluzzi

Square beads make great focals.  They also make great stations for attaching bead strands.  AccessoriesByGottjoy turns her square donut on its side to take advantage of its dual purpose.
Chicallure also uses her square bead as a focal. Beads dangle atop and below it.  An organza ribbon softens the look of the metal chain.
TKDesigns mixes freshwater pearls and copper in this unusual necklace that surrounds the square focal with large round beads.
WvWork takes advantage of today's metal trend by interspersing her sterling squares with circles. I love the proportions of this necklace that give the piece a light, airy yet substantial  feel.
A perfect piece to wear with  all your basic black.  .DesignsBySuzze boldly uses large oval stations to separate her multi-colored squares.
SylviaAnderson takes a simple rutilated quartz bead, turns it on its end, and wraps it to use as a pendant.
I love the unexpected opal nugget centerpiece in the middle of the dramatic amethyst squares.  Design by PlanetTreasures
Jyourly creates customized jewelry just for you.  Your picture can go in the square photo frame charm that dangles from the necklace.  The eclectic mix of colors in this piece help it go with anything.
InGodsHands achieves a classic look with her ornate brass square pendant and white pearl dangle.
EclecticDesigner uses graduated squares to achieve a bohemian, go anywhere necklace.
BLHooverDesigns uses multi colored square beads to turn a simple bead-spacer design into a showpiece.
Most of the time we present artists who are selling finished jewelry in this article.  But 1beadweaver is selling the pattern to make these stunning geometrical bracelets.  Color fascinates me and I'm always interested to see how the same pattern will look different depending on the color combinations.  You could also mix and match any of the shapes in this .pdf file to further personalize your work.
audreysbrinas echoes the colors of her Mother of Pearl centerpiece toggle with freshwater pearls surrounding the wrist.  The end result is a statement piece.
ksodesign fills her squares with a bit of sparkle in a beautiful shade of aqua.  The color combination is as pleasing as it is unexpected.
TwinkleSparkle has just the side view of her bali square beads showing front and center.  They make a perfect frame for the focal cube.  Round beads and silver stations all combine to create a very elegant look.
Wow!  This piece is a real show stopper.  The square lampwork beads work beautifully with the ornate sterling silver square beads.  The shape of the beads is echoed in the clasp.  Design by StoneStreetStudio
mysticfibers draws her design influence from Gustav Klimt.  While the beads themselves are round, they form square patterns all over the wrist wrap.
kpurnell surrounds her square centerpiece with colors in matching tones.  To me, this bracelet has a warm feeling, almost like being bathed in the sun.
< Who can't use a reminder to keep the faith?  This message bracelet by ConniesJewelryBox is given added dimension by the addition of the glass focal bead.
citydetails proves that classic sophistication never goes out of style.  I just love the color in these faceted beads.
shazzabeth supplies all the materials and instructions you need to create this bracelet in her kit.  Again, it's all about proportion when the wire is wrapped to form the illusion of squares holding round beads.  It's a beautiful design that's easy enough for a beginning wrapper to create.
NightmareCatchers leaves the round holes in her square beads empty. Instead of filling them, she intersperses the squares in this anklet with circles that look like they could have been cut out of the squares.
beadmedley has created a long dangly pair of earrings that would work extremely well with this season's tunic length.  The use of the transparent beads adds to the light feeling of the earrings.
PsAccessories proves that you can create a rich looking pair of earrings out of inexpensive materials. The brass wrap looks great centered in the middle of the wooden earings.
LADesignsinSilver created the square silver disk as well as the copper centers.  The two pieces are soldered together so the circles will always be centered on the squares.
I'm a big fan of using an exquisite bead and highlighting it with a very simple design.  These earrings can go anywhere.  Design by kjbeads
KBerlin adds both texture and design to her sterling squares.  A single onyx bead nestles in the concave shell, adding movement to a classic design.
These earrings are definitely not shy.  The Blue Eyed Bird has combined geometric shapes with a soft color combination to create a substantial pair of earrings.
Another classic.  While you often see bead caps on round beads, you don't usually see them on squares.  Design by BevaStyles
Faerie Glass uses her square beads to anchor the chandelier's dangles.  I always love doing this column as I see so many looks created by a single shape of bead.
I know these beads are rondelles.  But the hoop itself is square.  A very modern look by asecondtime.
