Bracelet sets feature an array of designs

By Bethany Waldrop Keiper

"The words!  I collected them in all shapes and sizes and hung them like bangles in my mind." -- Hortense Calisher

Sometimes something solo just won't do; you need multiples to make your statement. Sometimes you just need a bunch, a team, a posse. The matching bracelet bunch designs for this month are solid illustrations of the phrase, "the same, yet different."

The first set of bracelets features richest plum, shining gold, and a bit of golden topaz. Lately, the changing temperatures have brought some dark days of swirling clouds, and warm gold and sunshiny topaz are the perfect antidote. The mix of different flowers in golden metal, and yellow and deep glass, is a perfect setting for the repeating pattern of gold-etched leaves on the top and the 2x gold Swarovski bicones on the bottom.

For a seamless flow, I usually string these beads on Beadalon Elasticity crystal clear in 0.8mm or 0.5mm for smaller beads. The 0.5mm is great for bracelets, because its finishing knots easily slip back into the beads and do not show. Just make sure not to use very heavy beads on the 0.5mm.

Heavy metal! Different shapes of red beads get the mother lode of contrast and interest in design with three different metals in the mix. Swirled gold metal rounds are perfect teamed up with red dimpled beads hand-painted with more gold. Below, simple red rounds draw attention to their detailed copper companion beads. Above, corrugated silver rounds shine between rich red swirls of glass.

If you prefer not to use elastic threads, try stringing your multiple match bracelets onto one of the many two, three, or even five-strand clasps available. Make sure the clasp will provide enough room for any differently sized beads you may use in your strands. These clasps are often quite ornate and have the appearance of a grand piece of jewelry all by themselves.

Of course, you can also thread each bracelet separately with its own clasp. Threading each one separately, whether it is on elastic or tigertail, gives you the option to wear one, a duo, or the whole set.

This group, with its array of AB facetted firepolished beads, is like a constellation of sparkling stars for your wrist. This set was created with happy inspiration from a pile of 4mm and 6mm AB beads in clear, light aqua, and peacock blue. The small size and light weight of these beads allowed me to use the 0.5mm Beadalon Elasticity with no problems.

Unfortunately, these shimmery, squiggledy bracelets hate to be photographed, so their true beauty is impossible to capture. You simply cannot believe how beautiful the group of strands will look on your wrist in the sunlight.
